This 1954 Ferrari 375 Plus, a car raced by quite a few well known drivers of the era, just became Britain’s second most expensive car ever to be sold at auction. The hammer fell with bidding having reached the £9.6 million mark, which with VAT and buyers’ premium ended up costing a final total of £10.75 / $18.43 / €13.50 million.
The car was entered in the most important sports car series of the time, though it ran at Le Mans and the Mille Miglia too.
Capable of hitting sixty in around four seconds, and a top speed of 186 mph or 300 km/h, it’s still very quick even by today’s standard. The source of this impressive performance is a 4.9-liter V12 engine that puts out around 330 hp.
