Among all the available excuses for driving while drunk and then leaving his dog in the car on a hot day, a man from Georgia, USA, chose to go for the least believable on in front of the police.
In short, Oconee County Sherriff Sgt. Partain responded to a call about a dog locked in a car on a 99 degree Fahrenheit (37 Celsius) day, something which is considered animal cruelty in most countries.
According to Partain, the temperature inside the car was 123 Fahrenheit (50 Celsius), while the dog was also “accompanied” by a can of gas whose smell was described by the officer as “stifling.”
When questioned about the situation, Wesley Mark Terrell – the driver of the car – told the sheriff that his…dog had driven him to Bell’s Food Store to buy some corn!
The officer didn’t ask if the corn was for the dog or for the highly intoxicated driver, but that didn’t actually matter since he subsequently arrested Terrell and charged him with both DUI and Animal Cruelty.
Meanwhile, the dog was put in custody of the Animal Control Center in Oconee County, Georgia, with no proof that he was actually riding dirty…
