Shanghai GM, one of General Motors’ joint ventures in China, has announced that the long-wheelbase version of the Cadillac ATS, the ATS-L, will launch on August 15.
Designed specifically for the Chinese market, the Cadillac ATS-L features an extended wheelbase by 85mm (3.3in) compared to the standard model, with benefits including additional legroom and headroom for passenger riding in the back seat. Furthermore, GM says ergonomic enhancements have been made to the rear seats to further improve comfort.
Unlike the shorter ATS sedan sold in the US, the ATS-L still features the laurel wreath in the logo, as you can see from the photo. Under the hood, the sedan only features the 2.0-liter SIDI turbocharged engine producing 275hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The engine propels the ATS-L from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds.
Like the standard Cadillac ATS, the ATS-L retains the 50/50 weight distribution, high-strength, lightweight architecture, Brembo brakes, Magnetic Ride Control suspension and high-performance run-flat tires.
