An all-new Mazda2 is seriously overdue in the manufacturer’s range. The current model, which is based on the same underpinnings as a Ford Fiesta, was launched seven years ago and it really feels its age, especially compared to the latest and most modern rivals.
Its replacement will feature all of Mazda’s new efficiency and performance boosting SKYACTIV features, as well as a Kodo design exterior, to keep it in line with the rest of the 3,6 and CX-5 models.
Judging by the quality of Mazda’s other new-generation models, we expect the 2 to be a car aiming for top class honors too.
A prototype was recently driven by Australia’s Drive, around a test track in Japan, and it was deemed thoroughly capable and grow-up-feeling. The video they shot that day also features clear shots of the car’s interior, which, like its exterior styling is in-tune with the rest of the lineup.
