Great balls of fire! The 2016 Honda / Acura NSX prototype that we spied just the other day running around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, went down ingloriously today after it caught fire.
At this time, we have no information in regards to the fiery incident that left the NSX tester in a crispy state, but since the front end of the car looks to fairly intact, we assume that the fire originated from the engine compartment.
We’ll remind you that the NSX has a hybrid powertrain that accommodates a V6 engine with twin-turbos and an electric motor behind the passenger compartment driving the rear wheels through a dual-clutch transmission, and two more electric motors on the other side of the car, each assigned to a front wheel.
Then new NSX is expected to go on sale late next year.
