Unless you’re a very rich citizen of the Middle East, your excitement about Aston Martin’s plans to revive the Lagonda nameplate with a new sports sedan, should go away just as fast as it came.
According to the automaker, “the stunning luxury super saloon revives the Lagonda ethos of ‘the finest of fast cars’ and will be offered exclusively in the Middle East, as a result of specific market demand.”
The super exclusive sedan will be hand built at the brand’s manufacturing facilities in Gaydon, UK, in the same dedicated building used to make the One-77 hypercar.
From the few details shared by Aston, we learn that it will be based on the firm’s flexible VH architecture and make use of carbon fiber in the body panels. The styling of the car draws inspiration from the William Towns-designed Lagonda of 1976.
Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman commented:
“The debut of this luxury super saloon in the Middle East market will be an exciting moment not only for Aston Martin, but for discerning customers who are seeking the ultimate in luxury and personalization.”
“It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super saloons – notably the William Towns Lagonda – and as a tribute to this car it proudly bears the Lagonda nameplate,” he said.
There’s no mention about the powertrain, but we can’t see anything else but a V12 engine (possibly borrowed from the Rapide S) placed under the hood.
As for the asking price, Aston Martin made it pretty clear that it will be over the top, stating it will “commensurate with the car’s exclusivity, quality and luxurious nature”. How many zeros do you think that is?
