Here we are in the year 2014 looking at two surprisingly similar cars from two very different manufactures: the Audi S3 sedan and the new Subaru WRX STI, which despite being quite different in concept and execution end up being pretty well matched for a head to head.
The Audi is more expensive but is lighter, faster and has a great interior, while the Subaru is more focused, more aggressively set up, better sounding and more recognizable. Its interior is still as bad as you’d expect from a Subaru, though it has progressed over its predecessor – the steering wheel looks nice.
The AutoExpress comparison is actually a pretty good piece of automotive journalism that’s built on solid arguments and ends with a sound conclusion – you don’t necessarily have to follow it if it means changing your preferences, but it is a point to take note of.
