It appears that Nissan is truly determined to get associated with soccer. Following the announcement that it will be the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League from 2014 to 2018, the Japanese automaker has signed another sponsorship deal with City Football Group (CFG), an organization of several soccer clubs including Manchester City.

Under the five-year deal, Nissan becomes the Official Automotive Partner of City Football Group, which besides Manchester City includes Yokohama F. Marinos, New York City FC and Melbourne City FC. City Football Group also owns football and marketing companies operating from a number of offices around the world.

The partnership will see Nissan enjoy a strong brand presence at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, along with fan engagement opportunities targeting City supporters all over the world.

“This innovative partnership enhances Nissan’s investment in the game of soccer which is a key platform to further strengthen our brand globally,” said Carlos Ghosn, Nissan President and CEO.

For Nissan, the CFG network of football clubs represents an “excellent business platform.” Nissan’s global sports partnerships also include the UEFA Champions League, Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Olympic Team Great Britain and Mexico, Africa Cup of Nations, NCAA Football, Heisman Trophy and Canadian Football League, with Nissan sporting ambassadors including Olympics Gold Medalists Usain Bolt and Chris Hoy.
