At the same time that work is progressing on the new MLC (or ML Coupe), Merc’s BMW X6 challenger, the Germans are continuing the development of the facelifted M-Class SUV to keep it fresh and competitive.
These images of an M-Class prototype taking a short siesta in Southern Europe outline the cosmetic changes, most of which will focus on bringing the face of the SUV in line with other Mercedes models like the new C-Class and S-Class, as well as the related MLC.
Up front, the M-Class will sport a new grille, different headlamps and a redesigned bumper, while at the back, the camouflage is likely hiding a restyled bumper and possibly, fresh tail lamp graphics.
Mercedes will also apply some revisions inside, including a tablet-style touch-screen for the updated Command infotainment system, together with a redesigned center console and steering wheel.
Besides some minor tweaks to most of the engine lineup, rumors surfacing from Germany suggest that Mercedes may add a new hybrid model to the range and replace the ML350’s 302hp 3.5L naturally-aspirated V6 with its new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 returning 329 hp (333PS).
