When it comes to engines, downsizing and turbocharging may be good for the environment and customers’ wallets, but in most cases, they are disappointing in terms of audio pleasure.
This is why I think you’ll be very curious to hear what the 2015 Mustang’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine sounds like.
While in the U.S., the standard engine for the Mustang will be the 3.7-liter V6, with the 4-cylinder EcoBoost model to act as the mid-range model, in Europe the 2.3-liter engine will be offered in the entry-level model.
So far we’ve heard that the four-cylinder Mustang was described as gutsy by those who have been given a ride in it, with the engine also said to sound and feel “convincing enough.”
Well, now it’s time to hear the sound of the engine and judge for yourself, as a video has surfaced from Road & Track in which a 2015 Mustang fitted with the EcoBoost Performance Package and an automatic gearbox is driven hard at the Dearborn Development Center in Michigan by a Ford engineer.
For comparison, there is also an onboard video featuring a V8-powered 2015 Mustang GT, as well as another one with all three Mustang models driving away. Let us know what you think about each one in the commentary section and cast your votes below.
