This isn’t the first review of BMW’s X4 crossover, but it’s the first one coming from the UK, where the car launched late last month.

Carbuyer’s Mat Watson took the BMW X4 for a drive to see what it’s like and he reached some unsurprising conclusions. First of all, although the X4 rides on the same platform as the X3, the crossover was found to deliver a more focused driving experience, thanks to the lower and stiffer suspension.

Despite the sharp handling (for an SUV at least), comfort is not affected – at least not if you spec an M Sport model. Still, if you are the kind of driver who likes playing with buttons, Watson suggests going for adaptive dampers, which alter the ride according to your wishes.

The reviewer also points out that the X4’s interior is identical with the X3’s, which means it’s four-years old. But the biggest issue with the X4 is the lack of practicality, although that is something to expect if one wants to buy a “coupe SUV.”
