While Europeans appreciate the advantages of diesels in commercial and hauling applications, or just generally for moving larger vehicles around, in America, the elevated acquisition price, higher fuel price and old misconceptions are still putting them off.
Consumer Reports has been advocating in some of its other videos that burning oil is a valid way to go, especially if efficiency is the prime concern of the owner, particularly the owner of a pickup truck.
In their latest upload, they recommend the RAM 1500 EcoDiesel, comparing its fuel consumption numbers with those of the usual V8-powered alternatives.
We’re not saying they’re completely right on this, especially since Ford’s upcoming F-150 will be efficient without being a diesel (it remains to be seen just how efficient…). They are right on the higher resale value, but fail to mention the lower towing capacity of diesels compared to the usual V8s.
