Rolls Royce confirmed on Tuesday that it will enhance its range with a second convertible model, the Wraith Drophead Coupe, which will go on sale by mid-2016.
The British luxury carmaker avoided naming the car in its release, but it provided two clues that point directly to the Wraith Drophead Coupe stating that, it will “deliver effortless, open-top touring” and is currently “undergoing a rigorous process of prototype testing”.
“We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership,” stated Rolls Royce boss, Torsten Müller-Ötvös.
We’ve already spied a camouflaged tester of the Wraith Drophead Coupe on the road and can reveal that it features a more traditional coupe-like profile and rear-end styling than its hardtop brethren.
The open-top model will most likely keep the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 as the Wraith producing 624hp (633 PS), but carry a higher price tag.
Competitors will include the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and the soon-to-be released Mercedes-Benz S-Class Convertible.
