Pricing and equipment details were released today for VW’s US market 2015 Jetta that introduces a new 150HP turbo diesel along with minor cosmetic changes and newly-available driver assistance systems.
The 2015 Jetta will reach U.S. dealerships this fall with prices starting from $16,215 (* plus $820 destination and handling) for the 115HP 2.0-liter base trim with a manual gearbox. However, VW states that this version will be “available as a factory order only”.
Apparently, VW’s brass specifically created this model to lure buyers into showrooms with a lower entry price, as it’s not even mentioned in their official price sheet, which starts with the 2.0L S manual ($17,125 plus D&H).
The other engine choices include the 170hp 1.8-liter and 210hp 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline units, the new EA288 2.0-liter TDI Clean Diesel engine with 150hp, up from the previous TDI’s 140hp, which returns up to 46mpg highway with a manual transmission, and the 170hp Hybrid model with a 1.4-liter TSI and an electric motor.
Besides the minor styling changes to the front and rear ends that promise to improve aerodynamics, VW tweaked the interior trims and colors, and redesigned the steering wheel and air vent controls.
Newly offered driver assistance systems include Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning System, and Park Distance Control, with VW also adding Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights and Adaptive Front-lighting System on select models.
