BMW has uneventfully released everything you want to know about the 2015 2-Series Convertible, from its $38,850 starting price, to confirmation that all-wheel drive will be available, and that it’s supposed to be every bit as fun as the coupe.

The successor to the 1-Series Convertible, the 2-Series drop-top sticks very much to its hardtop equivalent, including offering xDrive for 2015. While you can get an M235i xDrive Coupe, you won’t be able to do the same for the convertible. Still, that shouldn’t be much of an issue for those in snowy states considering this against the recently on-sale Audi A3 Convertible.

BMW says the new fabric roof on the 2 opens and closes in 20 seconds, and changes have cut noise inside by up to 7 dB(A) compared with the old 1 Convertible. The roof can be optioned in three different colors, can be opened remotely with the Comfort Access option and be opened and closed at speeds of up to 30 mph.

Trunk room is also slightly increased with both the top up and down over the old car, with room for up to two golf bags – if that’s important to you.

But if driving is important to you, the 2-Series Convertible is blessed with the same available Track Handling Package as the 228i coupe, with the adaptive M suspension, M brakes and 18-inch wheels.

Prices kick off at $38,850, or roughly six grand more than the equivalent hardtop 228i. The xDrive option is $1,800, and the rear-wheel drive M235i starts at $48,650. It will be shown first at the Paris Motor Show in October, followed a month later for its North American debut in Los Angeles.

Expect the 2 soft-top in BMW showrooms in spring 2015, and parked everywhere in affluent beach towns that summer.
