Jeep’s most baddass vehicle, the Grand Cherokee SRT, has just become slightly cooler, as the output of the 2015 model has increased to 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.
If the increase of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft doesn’t impress you, Jeep has also announced a new Red Vapor special edition package for the 2015 Grand Cherokee SRT, as well as the addition of Active Noise Cancelling technology for more in-cabin refinement.
The latter uses the vehicle audio system and four strategically located microphones to automatically introduce sound to the cabin, enhancing sound-system clarity and the Grand Cherokee SRT’s exhaust note.
Available on three body colors (Redline Red Pearl Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and Bright White Clear Coat), the new Red Vapor special edition adds unique exterior and interior enhancements.
On the exterior, standard five-spoke 20-inch “Goliath” wheels are finished in Black Chrome with bright chrome center caps, while additional gloss black appointments include the SRT liftgate badge, Jeep hood and rear light bar badges, Grand Cherokee door badge, lower grille bezels and upper grille inserts.
Inside the cabin, the SRT logo on the sports steering wheel is backlit and the steering wheel bezel changes to an anodized silver finish. Light black chrome replaces the standard bright chrome and Radar Red accents are used throughout the cabin to enhance the luxurious, muscular interior. The package is completed with engine beauty covers trimmed in dark red.
In terms of performance, the 2015 Grand Cherokee SRT runs from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds, 0-100-0 mph in 16.3 seconds and can cover the quarter mile in the mid-13 second range. Top speed is 160 mph (258 km/h).
