Cadillac is slowly trying to reestablish itself as a force in the world of premium automobiles. It has shifted its old approach to one that is of the times, with the new ATS and CTS, as well as the Chevy Volt-based ELR plug-in.
However, in order to really make a mark, they need a smaller model, in the vein of Mercedes’ CLA (an ELR-sized model, but with four doors, maybe?).
Apparently, that model is in the pipeline, according to TheDetroitBureau, which had an exclusive interview with the new Cadillac CEO. It’s a “must-have,” he reportedly said, adding that it’s a sector on the rise that they need to capitalize on.
We already know some of Cadillac’s plans from an older interview/report, but that focused on the fact that there’s room for a new model slotting in between the SRX and Escalade – that model is one of three high-riders planned to be added to the range by the end of the decade.
Hopefully, they will have learned a thing or two from the Germans by now (it appears as if they have…) and also make –V sporty versions of however many models they can. It’s great for image and they may make some great performance cars in the process.
Note: Quick rendering is in-house brewed; nobody said it was going to be a liftback, but nobody discounted it either…
