Car thieves are terrible – so it’s worse when they keep stealing cars. But it’s really stupid when they steal the same car twice. In this case, it’s stealing the same Ferrari 458 Spider.
Police in Fontana, Calif. suspect a man arrested last month for stealing the Ferrari 458 Spider stole it again from the city’s impound lot, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
Earnie Hooks, 39 of Studio City, Calif., was stopped at a DUI checkpoint in August when police noticed the Ferrari he was behind the wheel of had been reported as stolen. He fled, and the car was later found abandoned. But early the next morning, Hooks allegedly broke into the impound lot where the Ferrari was parked and stole it again. He was discovered driving the car five days later and arrested.
Hooks has a 2012 charge currently pending for auto theft. Stealing the same car out of the impound lot doesn’t quite add up, so you have to wonder what his reasons were.
