These fresh scoop shots give us our best look yet at the exterior of next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLK, as the Germans finally fitted the SUV with production parts on both ends.
Key differences with the current model will include the softer and more rounded design for the body (think bigger GLA) and a far more stylish and contemporary interior largely borrowed from the warmly received W205 C-Class with all the latest gadgetry and convenience features.
Designed to fight the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the new Lexus NX and Land Rover Discovery Sport, the second iteration of the GLK is bound for a global rollout next year, including the UK for the first time ever.
A recent report suggested that Benz might switch its nomenclature, using the GLC moniker instead, to denote that the car belongs to the same size-category as the C-Class, upon which it is based.
Powertrains will be sourced from the W205, with the U.S. likely getting two gasoline units, a 235hp 2.0-liter turbo four, and a 329hp 3.0-liter turbo V6, and possibly a four-cylinder diesel.
Other markets will have a more extensive lineup of petrol and (mainly) diesel engines.
