While the Renault Twingo would appear to have all of the necessary ingredients for lots of tail-happy fun, it’s not really that kind of car.
In fact, from what we understand, Renault (and co-development partners Daimler) seem to have wanted to create a rear-engined, rear-driven car that behaves as if it was front-wheel drive.
The semi-humorous video posted below highlights this by trying to put the little Twingo to the test. It does go sideways, but it doesn’t appear to be in its element. That could also be down to the fact that while you can disengage stability, traction control always stays on (and kills wheelspin).
Even so, we hope the peppier future versions of the Twingo will be more like the Twin’run concept; it looked very eager and able to go sideways.
