After releasing the production “3” hatchback and sedan models, Chinese-Israeli startup Qoros is moving ahead with plans to introduce its first SUV model.
We spied a prototype of the as-of-yet unnamed compact SUV wearing a production body undergoing tests in Europe. The styling is in line with the brand’s current portfolio, which will soon be enhanced with the 3-based Cross Hybrid hatch.
The SUV is thought to be based on the same modular platform as the “3” with which it should share its engine lineup as well, including the 125hp (126PS) naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter and 143hp (156PS) turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol units.
Despite being a new name in the industry, Qoros raised quite a few eyebrows when the 3 sedan not only became the first Chinese car to achieve a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety tests, but also scored the highest points in 2013.
