The launch of the new, third-generation Audi TT in base and sporty S coupe forms will soon be followed up by an open-top model.
Audi is expected to bring the new TT Roadster into the market in spring of 2015, so we could see it debut as early as this year, possibly even at next month’s Paris Auto Show.
Ingolstadt has yet to be bitten by the retractable hardtop bug and will continue to offer the TT Roadster with a classic, power-operated fabric roof that folds back into the luggage compartment.
The open-top model gets a redesigned and longer deck-lid, but keeps the coupe’s retractable spoiler. Other than that and the changes to maintain structural rigidity, the Roadster is the same car as the coupe.
As such, it will offer a similar engine lineup, which will include a pair of 2.0-liter TFSI petrol units with 227hp (230PS) and 306hp (310PS) for the S model, and in Europe, at least, an 184PS 2.0-liter turbo diesel.
