The TT Sportback concept car unveiled at the Paris Auto Show is Audi’s way of testing the waters for a more practical TT model that may help increase its profits.

It would be a sportier, more stylish alternative to the A3 Sedan, albeit not as practical. At 4.47 meters (176 inches) long, 1.89 meters (74.4 inches) wide, and 1.38 meters (54.3 inches) high, with a wheelbase of 2.63 meters (103.5 inches), the TT Sportback is sized similarly to the A3 Sedan.

However, while its TT-sourced interior is a lot cooler than the A3 Sedan, it only offers seating for four and has a smaller boot. Still, compared to the latest TT, the TT Sportback has a 120mm (4.7 in) larger wheelbase, which (in theory, at least) means that two adults should travel decently in the rear seats – despite the TT Sportback’s 30mm (1.2 in) lower roof compared to the TT Coupe.

Auto Express’ Mat Watson tried to find out if that’s the case but a very determined lady from Audi’s Paris Auto Show stand didn’t allow him to check out the rear seats. Still, she let the crew zoom in on the rear seats and frankly they don’t look like seats one would like to be on during a long trip.
