GM is quite the busy bee these days having plenty of new cars on its plate, including the high-performance Cadillac ATS-V and the next Chevy Camaro.
Prototypes of these two new models were nabbed nesting among a group of Cadillac cars, some of which were disguised, by Carscoops reader Brett Borgard.
The Cadillac ATS-V Coupe can easily be identified by the massive quad pipes placed within the diffuser at the back and the vertical-slat grille setup at the front.
Even though the ATS-V’s debut is imminent, possibly as early as next month at the LA Auto Show on November 19 for the sedan, with the coupe to follow next year, there are conflicting reports about the powertrain and whether it will have a twin-turbo V6 with about 420hp (same engine as the CTS V Sport), a V8 or both (the latter getting a V+ moniker).
Similar questions surround the new sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro too, including whether a four-cylinder turbo lump will be on offer and if so, which one will GM choose. Of course, a V6 and a selection of V8 units will continue to power the Camaro, albeit in revised form.
The new Camaro is related to the ATS as it shares the same lighter and more compact chassis instead of the modified version of the Holden Commodore’s architecture found under the current, fifth-gen model. It’s scheduled for an introduction during the second half of 2015.
As for the other Cadillac models spied by Brett in the parking lot, on the surface, there doesn’t seem to be anything different or new about them, but you can never know for sure if there’s something fresh hiding under the skin.
