Unlike Ford’s struggling Lincoln brand, GM’s Cadillac has found its way and is optimistically looking into the future making plans for new products, including a convertible, a small sedan and an SUV.
Last month, GM hosted a dealer meeting in Las Vegas where it revealed details about its product plans.
Autonews learned from several people who attended the closed-door event that GM shared an image of a new convertible based on the platform that underpins the ATS and CTS sedans, without being clear if it would carry one of those nameplates or if it would be a standalone model.
The news agency contacted a Cadillac spokesman who stated that the brand will “like to introduce an open car to the portfolio at some point,” but that “it’s not likely to be one of the near-term portfolio additions.”
According to the same report, GM told dealers of plans for “a small crossover, a larger crossover that would be slotted between the SRX and Escalade, and an entry-level sedan that would fit below the ATS” similar to the Audi A3 saloon and Mercedes-Benz CLA.
