The Citroen C4 Cactus was recently tested by Euro NCAP and despite not receiving any particularly bad marks, one star was detracted from the maximum five-rating.
It managed to achieve an 82 percent adult safety rating and 80 percent for pedestrians, both good not excellent numbers. It lacks some of the more modern pieces of active safety tech, though stability control is obviously standard – its score in the safety assist category is just 56 percent.
Euro NCAP tested a batch of cars, not just the Cactus, and out of the four models it crashed, the new Mercedes V-Class and Nissan X-Trail both achieved the maximum rating, while the Citroen Berlingo only managed three. The latter got modest numbers all round, only achieving a 56 percent rating for adult occupant protection.
