We just received some very interesting shots from Alfa Romeo’s Paris Motor Show stand depicting a red 4C Coupe with an additional air inlet made from carbon-fiber on the left fender.
A Carscoops reader who prefers to stay anonymous took the photos and pondered if this could be one of the sportier versions of the mid-engine coupe that Alfa plans to launch in the near future, possibly with the Quadrifoglio Verde and/or Stradale monikers.
“Alfa Romeo’s booth had this 4C and I immediately remember the recently uncovered scoop of the test mule with its special air inlet,” he told us. “Furthermore, I got the chance of getting inside and near this unit and found many ‘prototype’ like details like the engine cover with a slightly different finish from the existing model.”
The red 4C with the air-inlet on one side of the car wasn’t the only 4C at Alfa’s stand, as pointed out by our keen-sighted reader.
“It’s on the show floor surrounded by ropes while the other 4C can be reached and touched. There are three 4Cs in their booth – 1 Spider (unreachable on a carrousel) [Ed.Note: See pics below], that one and a standard one,” he said.
This could be something, from a new edition with or without more power to a future design package, or it could be nothing, in the sense that Alfa may have just brought along one of its early-production models fitted with non-production parts – we just can’t say for sure without more information.
Our friend isn’t just another fan of Italy’s most affordable mid-engine sports coupe, but a soon-to-be owner of a 4C, and he managed to learn some interesting news about the European version:
“The Spider’s release in Europe has been postponed to spring next year. Price of the standard model will be raised by €3,000 at the end of October. Got all this information from the sales rep that is selling me one at the moment,” he said.
Many thanks to our friend for the photos and info!
