The dramatic looking Pininfarina Sergio concept car will be built in a very limited run of six units, Ferrari has confirmed. All six roadsters have already been pre-sold to customers selected by Ferrari.
Ferrari told CNN Money it pre-sold all six vehicles to wealthy enthusiasts from the United States, Europe and Asia, so chances are owners will never see another Sergio on the road.
Ferrari didn’t communicate the price, but chances are it costs several million dollars. Since the recently-unveiled F60, built in a limited run of 10 units, is said to have a $2.5 million price tag, the even more exclusive Sergio should cost more.
Customers who were approached by Ferrari have committed to buying a Sergio even before the car’s design has been finalized. Deliveries of the six vehicles are expected in 2015.
Based on the Ferrari 458 Spider, the Pininfarina Sergio is powered by the 562hp (570PS) 4.5-liter V8 mated to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox that directs power to the rear axle.
Since the Sergio does not have a windshield, designers inserted a wing in the front bumper to improve aerodynamics, while a roll-bar with a fixed spoiler protects occupants and increases the down force on the rear axle.
The roadster is about 150 kg (331 pounds) lighter than the production Ferrari model upon which it is based, which explains the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of under 3.4 seconds and the top speed of around 320km/h (199mph).
