When the new Honda HR-V lands in European showrooms in the beginning of next summer, buyers will be able to choose between 1.5-liter petrol and 1.6-liter diesel engines, the automaker announced.
Honda didn’t disclose output numbers, but the 1.5-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine should produce around 130-horses, while the 1.6-liter i-DTEC, either 118hp (120PS) or 158hp (160PS), as the company offers two versions of the diesel unit.
Both engines will be linked to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol to also be offered with a semi-automatic CVT alternative.
With the HR-V, which will also go on sale under the same name in North America, Honda aims to challenge the Peugeot 2008 and Nissan Juke.
The HR-V will appear in pre-production trim at the Paris Auto Show.
