For the past 35 years, the G-Class has -literally- remained true to its original roots with Mercedes every now and then modernizing its interior, powertrains and tech features. And oh, lately, it celebrates every five years with a special edition.
This year, the G-Wagen turned 35 and besides introducing a 1988 example with 850,000km on the odo that we mentioned in an earlier post to its museum, Benz is celebrating the event with a special “Edition 35” version for the G350 BlueTEC and G500 models.
Both are offered in a choice of three exterior colors, the special Designo Mystic White Bright and Palladium Silver metallic paint finishes, or the more subtle Obsidian Black metallic, with the 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear bumpers, wheel arch linings, exterior mirrors and the roof painted in gloss black.
Other exterior components fitted as standard include the AMG sports package with flared wheel arches, a sports exhaust for the G500, and a Chrome kit for the grille and spare wheel cover.
On the inside, customers can opt between two-tone Designo Porcelain/Black and single-tone Designo Black leather surfaces with red contrast stitching, while you’ll also find also chrome accents, a leather-covered dashboard, AMG performance steering wheel, Designo trim in black piano lacquer and a Designo microfiber roof liner.
In Germany, prices for the Edition 35 models start from €84,900 (€101,030 with 19% VAT/Tax) for G350 BlueTEC, and from €94,800 (€112,812 with 19% VAT/Tax) for the V8-powered G500.
