The Miami Police Department has opened an internal affairs investigation on Officer Kenneth MacLeod who was filmed screaming expletives at young motorcyclist Albert Valdes.
Even though Valdes did not file an internal affairs complaint, the video we posted on Tuesday eventually went viral and was picked up by many news stations and came to the attention of the Miami Beach Police Department.
“The person in the video has yet to file a formal complaint against the officer,” said Det. Vivian Thayer, a department spokeswoman, according to the Miami New Times. “The department is being proactive and is investigating the video and everything that led up to the officer’s reaction.”
Valdes also came out and spoke about the incident that started when the 44-year old K-9 officer pulled him over and gave him a ticket for an invalided license and for his plate being flipped up.
“I mean he got out of the car like he was having a bad day,” 20-year-old Albert Valdes told 7 News on Wednesday evening.
Valdes made new comments on his YouTube channel where he admitted being sarcastic and said that he has another 10-minute of footage of the cop “f***ing” around with him.
“I want to thank everybody that also thinks the cop was in the wrong, which he was. I was respectful up to the point where he gave me a $1000 ticket for my license plate and told me to go back to school and take physics lessons because I said that it flipped up by itself considering it’s on there with zip-ties. That’s when I got sarcastic. I in no way wanted to make it seem like I was being sincere when I said god bless you. I have another 10 minutes of footage of him f***ing with me, so thank you to all my non-cop supporters. As for everyone else, go fuck yourself…or better yet, wait the the cops f**k you.”
After the incident, the Miami Police Department released MacLeod’s record in which it was noted that he was shot five times working traffic duty in 1992, with CBS Local adding that “he lobbied the Miami Beach City Commission for officer benefits” and “reportedly makes $115,000 a year” – not that it has anything to do with how he acted in this instance.
H/T to all of you who shared this update with us!
