Nissan has found a way to make the Pulsar more desirable and it has done that by letting the Nismo division work its magic on the rather bland hatch.
Although it’s only a concept for now, the Nissan Pulsar Nismo will most likely evolve into a production hot-hatch that would rival the VW Golf GTI.
As it did on other Nissan products, Nismo has developed a new aerodynamic package that makes the Pulsar look sharper. The study features a satin grey paint with Nismo’s trademark Layered Double-Wing accentuated in red, as well as a redesigned front bumper with larger, optimised air intakes and striking brake cooling vents.
Deeper side skirts, a lower ride height and 19-inch five arm alloy wheels with 235/35 R19 tyres help make the Pulsar look more aggressive, as do the diffuser-style rear bumper with central twin exhaust pipes. Trained eyes will also spot a chrome trim around the side windows painted in black as well as a carbon fiber finish and Nismo red accents on the door mirrors.
Modifications continue inside with a race-inspired cockpit featuring a red colored tachometer, sculpted sports seats trimmed in Alcantara, a sporty three-spoke steering wheel and alloy pedals.
Unfortunately, for the moment Nissan remains silent about the powertrain of the Pulsar Nismo, but says it features a revised suspension system honed on the racetrack with revised spring and damper settings. Still, the Pulsar Nismo should have significantly more power than the current range-topping model of the Pulsar family, the 190PS 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol unit.
