On the eve of the Paris auto show, at the VW Group Night event, Skoda presented the third generation of its Fabia supermini. A more practical and spacious estate version named Combi in most markets will also have its world premiere in France.
The two models will share a common engine range comprising 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrols with 59hp and 74hp, a 1.2-liter TSI turbo petrol in 89hp and 109hp flavors, along with a 1.4-liter TDI diesel with 89hp or 103hp.
Later on, Skoda will add a 74hp 1.4-liter TDI diesel in Greenline trim that promises to return 3.1l/100km (75.9 mpg US or 91.1 mpg UK) with CO2 emission of 82g/km.
The new Fabia borrows the slightly more expressive styling of the bigger Octavia applied on a body that’s 90mm wider and 30mm lower, with the hatch offering a boot capacity of 330 liters and the Combi 530 liters, in both cases, with the rear seats in use.
Skoda currently has no plans to enhance the range with a sportier RS (or vRS) model.
