If you don’t know the entire backstory behind the ride from Back to the Future, then this XCar video will fill all of your knowledge voids.
The DeLorean DMC-12 is a car that was never really finished, despite having a brilliant engineer and entrepreneur behind it.
Somehow, the logistics and design never really met up properly, and the car ended up being 70 percent of what it could have been. It lacked a properly powerful engine to go with the sporty looks, and since DeLorean never got into its production strides (only made 8,500 or so examples) they were never built properly…
Even so, its status as an icon is undeniable as is its pleasing 1980s aesthetic; the brushed stainless steel body is its defining feature, closely followed by the gullwing doors. These, apparently, didn’t always open, while those of a more powerful and cheaper Porsche of the time did every single time.
