It won’t be long before Mercedes officially reveals its new CLA Shooting Brake, but until then, here’s a fresh batch of scoops and a pair of computer images based on the engineering prototypes.
The Shooting Brake will be the second addition to the CLA family after the sedan and the fifth overall in Mercedes’ growing range of compact models following the A-Class hatchback, B-Class minivan and GLA crossover.
In essence, it’s a mini-me interpretation of the CLS Shooting Brake featuring a similar silhouette and rear-end design treatment, with added practical and space benefits over its saloon counterpart.
Powertrains options will be common with the sedan culminating with the CLA 45 AMG edition seen in the white render that will get a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit good for 355hp (360PS).
Mercedes has said that the CLA Shooting Brake will launch early next year, but it’s not clear whether it will be available in North America yet.
