The BMW ULK1 platform is front-wheel drive biased and it underpins the new MINI, 2-Series Active Tourer and the upcoming X1 crossover.
However, we now learn that the Bavarian automaker has also trademarked the X2 Sport name, which could signal the arrival of a coupe-like variant of the X1.
BMW Blog suggests the model would not only feature the now familiar BMW sloping roof (the one seen on even-numbered X models) but that it would also be offered in fwd-only guise too.
Think of it as a vehicle basically the same size as a MINI Paceman, but with BMW styling inside and out.
Styling would differ quite a bit compared to that of the X1 on which it would be based. Not only would the roof and rear section be radically d ifferent and more fastback-esque, but the haunches would also be more pronounced, wider.
The rendering by Theophiluschin posted below paints a pretty accurate picture of what it could be like.
