If you’re shopping around for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Dodge Durango, and want a flashy color, you’d better hurry up as the two models will be available only in black, white, silver or gray until February.
According to Autonews, Chrysler has informed its dealers that it’s suspending orders for any other color due to upgrades made to its Jefferson North Assembly plant that will increase the color palette of the paint shop.
Moreover, the factory will cease production completely for three weeks starting December 22. Company spokeswoman Jodi Tinson would not reveal the changes made to the paint shop, her only comment being that they will mirror those at its Sterling Heights and Warren Truck plants in Michigan.
Currently, only 8 percent of the 719 Durangos and 19 percent of the 24,500 Grand Cherokees in Chrysler’s US inventory are painted in a color other than black, white, gray or silver.
