What happens when the Mazda2 hatch and Mazda6 sedan get together? Why, the Mazda2 sedan; the Japanese firm’s new baby saloon, set to debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2014 on Nov 28.
Sub-compact hatchbacks turned into sedans tend to have odd proportions, but that’s doesn’t seem to apply to the Mazda2, or at least that’s what we get from the press pictures.
If you did not know about the Mazda2 hatch, you could easily mistake the small sedan for a standalone series and our only quibbles are the overly large tail lamps, while we think its looks would benefit from a bigger set of wheels to offset the chunkiness of the fenders.
Both the sedan and the hatchback that will be shown for the first time in Thailand feature the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter diesel engine and will go on sale in the country early next year.
Mazda didn’t say if and when it will offer the 2 sedan in other markets.
