While it was made as a CGI entity for the PS3 Gran Turismo 6 game before VW built a real life version, like our readers, we can’t help but think that the GTI Roadster could form the base for a kühl Scirocco or Corrado coupe.

Originally displayed at this year’s Worthersee meeting, VW brought the concept for the first time to North America at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The two-seater track-racer draws power from a 3.0-liter bi-turbocharged V6 placed up front delivering 503-horses and 413 lb-ft of torque to a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system via a 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission.

VW says the 3,133- pound sports car can run to 60mph (96km/h) in 3.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 192mph (309km/h).
