Just place yourself in this (US or Canadian?) driver’s position: riding on a highway at night when suddenly, you run into an amateurish roadblock and a hooded-guy standing next to a parked jalopy approaches you.
What would your next move be?
Ivan Tukhtin, the YouTube author of the video, chose the most sensible thing to do, ask first, quickly evaluate the situation and plan a safe escape plan if felt threatened.
We’re with him 100 percent, though, given the circumstances, we wouldn’t blame you if you skipped the “ask a question” part.
A civilian placing cones in the middle of the road at night doesn’t seem like something that a sensible driver in need of help would do. Slowing down and carefully going through the cones and then calling the cops sounds like a good idea as well.
Of course, not all commentators agreed on YouTube and had something nasty to say, to whom Tukhtin responded:
“Before people jump to conclusions, no I will not run a person over, there was no immediate danger. I asked him what he was doing to lead him away from the front of the car, as soon as he acted suspicious I left. For those of you who would run over the cones, I hope you are okay with paying for the damage it would cost to a lowered sports car traveling 40+ mph.”
