So Cadillac had announced that it was going to show off the updated 2015 model-year ELR at the Los Angeles motor show. However, there was no such model in sight, Cadillac bringing the 2014 model to the show instead.
Apparently, the car was not brought over because of “system integration difficulties” involving some of the newfangled self-driving features. The refreshed ELR is characterized as being “a highly autonomous vehicle” and the manufacturer couldn’t get it to work in time for the show.
GM Inside News says that Cadillac may have even skipped the 2015 model-year completely, focusing instead on a 2016 model-year variant which they’ll show sometime next year (or when it’s finally ready…).
The source says its “highly autonomous” characteristics could mean it will feature Cadillac’s Super Cruise system, which would give it capabilities similar to those of Tesla’s autopilot feature.
