Look very, very closely for the “new” in the 2015 BMW 6-Series lineup, ready for its unveil at January’s Detroit Auto Show.
BMW announced Wednesday the new 6-Series coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe range, including the M6. The 640i and 650i models return, with either turbocharged six-cylinder or twin-turbo V8 power.
The key exterior changes are new wheels, a “decorative surround” for the LED foglights that look more bulbous than ever, and a reduction of bars in the grille from 10 to 9. Now you’ll be counting grille bars to see if it’s the new or the old 6.
There’s also something called a “Black Accent Package” now available, which consists primarily of black accents on the exterior trim and wheels.
Really, though, there’s not much new on the “new” 6. Power from the engines stays the same, starting at 315 horsepower for the 640i and rising all the way to 560 on the M6 models. All the comforts expected of this cruiser, like BMW ConnectedDrive, navigation and lots of fine leather for the active contour seats, return.
Expect these 2015 6-Series cars in the first quarter of 2015.
