Gran Turismo 6 is getting into the holiday spirit with a new update that will allegedly release the radical Chaparral 2X concept car as well as new Seasonal Events. According to GT Planet, the latest Gran Turismo 6 update will be released ahead of Christmas.
The Chaparral 2X concept car was designed by a team at General Motors in collaboration with the Gran Turismo Vision GT project and it was unveiled at the LA Auto Show last month as the most groundbreaking racing prototype the world has ever seen.
“The Chaparral 2X VGT’s concept propulsion system is inspired by technology derived from advanced work targeted at space travel and future aircraft design,” described the design team at GM. “It features a mid-mounted laser beamed-energy propulsion system, which pulses beams of light that focus in a shroud, creating shock waves that generate tremendous thrust in the lightweight race car.”
The official Chaparral 2X Vision GT release date for Gran Turismo 6 has not been confirmed, but early reports suggest that the update will arrive “this holiday season.” Earlier this week, Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital announced that the game will receive server maintenance during the early hours of Wednesday, December 17. We believe this is the time the latest update is expected to launch.
The upcoming Gran Turismo 6 Christmas Holiday Update will also include special Seasonal Events that will run throughout the remainder of the holiday season until New Year’s Day.
According to GT Planet, the events will include a new Drift Trials featuring the D1GP course at Fuji Speedway that will limit entry to only D1GP or Formula Drift racing cars only. Next, a second Drift Trials event will take place in Silverstone and will be open to normal cars. What’s more, a series of challenges at Matterhorn, Grand Valley, Nurburgring, and Mount Panorama will be available as well. Finally, a special weather-change survival race for Super GT cars will be introduced.
