Four years after launch, Citroën has given the second-generation C4 its first facelift, with updates including new light signatures, technologies and engines.
The most obvious changes involve the light units, which now have integrated LED daytime running lights at the front and a 3D-effect at the rear. Chrome accents on the front and rear bumpers, as well as the new 17-inch Miami alloy wheels complete the exterior updates.
Inside, the C4 gets new upholstery materials and a simpler dashboard featuring a new centrally located 7-inch touchscreen that groups all the media and navigation functions. The model also gets hands-free keyless entry and start, as well as an optional massaging driver’s seat and panoramic glass roof equipped with electric blind. The C4 is available with driving-assist systems like Hill Start Assist, Intelligent Traction Control and the Blind Spot Monitoring system.
In terms of engines, the Citroën C4 gets a new turbocharged 3-cylinder PureTech petrol unit, the PureTech 110 with manual gearbox. The engine produces 110PS (109hp) at 5,500 rpm and 205Nm (151lb-ft) of torque at 1,750 rpm. Average fuel consumption is 4.7 l/100 km (60.1 mpg UK), with CO2 emissions of 110 g/km.
The rest of the engine lineup is unchanged and includes the 130PS (128hp) PureTech 130 3-cylinder petrol and two 1.6-liter BlueHDI diesels, the BlueHDi 100 with a five-speed manual gearbox, and the BlueHDi 120 S&S with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The BlueHDi 100 is the most economical of the range, with 3.3 l/100 km (71.3 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 86 g/km. All models are fitted as standard with stop-start and ultra low rolling resistance tires.
The facelifted C4 will arrive in European dealerships next year.
