There are Ferraris, and there are Ferraris; the one you see pictured here is a one-off a kind model named SP America commissioned through the Italian supercar-maker’s Special Project (SP) division.
Our friend Sam Shur of Djshiftphotography caught the unique Ferrari on his camera back in September at a Wegman’s supermarket parking lot in upstate New York.
Now, you might be thinking, who in the world would take a multimillion-dollar Ferrari to pick up their groceries, well it’s not exactly like that as the car is owned by Danny Wegman, the grocery chain’s CEO.
“It’s Danny Wegman’s brand new, one-of-a-kind, 2015 Ferrari SP America, rumored to be worth over 4 million dollars,” wrote Shur. “And I believe I’m the first in the world to spot it on the streets. This thing was absolutely amazing!!! I literally had a small heart attack when I saw it just parked in the Wegmans parking lot between a few other cars. It’s my first spot of a modern Ferrari too. And in upstate New York of all places!”
The SP America is based on the Ferrari F12 berlinetta, possibly using the same 731PS 6.3-liter V12, but its body was re-done by Pininfarina.
