Ford has jumped ahead of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issuing a new recall for the 2015 Mustang over a potential fuel line leak.
While NHTSA has yet to list the recall on its web site, Ford came out with a press statement saying that approximately 730 units of the new-gen 2015 Mustang fitted with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and built between Sept. 25, 2014 to Oct. 9, 2014, may be affected. Of those 730 cars, 712 were sold in the USA and 16 in Canada.
“A fuel pressure sensor, which is part of the fuel supply tube assembly, may have been installed incorrectly, potentially resulting in a pressurized fuel leak,” read the Blue Oval’s statement. “A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.”
Ford mentioned that it’s not aware of any fires, accidents or injuries related to this recall, adding that dealers will replace the fuel supply tube assembly at no cost to owners.
