Ford’s all-new 2015 Mustang is off to a scorching start delivering 8,728 units in November 2014, or about twice as much as Chevrolet’s 2015 Camaro that sold 4,385 cars the same month.
The 6th gen Mustang posted an impressive leap in total sales of 62.4 percent compared to November 2013 (5,376 units) making it the best November for the nameplate since 2006. Year to date, both the previous and new generation of the Mustang have delivered 73,124 cars, an increase of 2.3 percent over 2014.
With 4,385 units sold, Chevy’s Camaro saw its sales plummet 13.5 percent over the same month last year (5,068 cars), though, from the beginning of the year through November, sales are up 5.4 percent at 79,669 deliveries.
Dodge’s Challenger came in third with 4,157 sales, but it recorded a whopping 51 percent increase over November last year (2,757 units). From January through November, Dodge has delivered 46,673 Challengers, down 4 percent over the same period in 2013.
Ford said that new Mustangs “are in high demand, spending only eight days on the lot before being sold” with 52 percent of buyers opting for the 5.0-liter V8 GT model, 24 percent for the Ti-VCT 3.7-liter V6 and 24 percent going with the four-cylinder EcoBoost model.
