A British rock band, sponsored by an American automaker that belongs to an Italian conglomerate based in London: that’s globalization in a nutshell – but there’s also a charity B-side on that story.
The Rolling Stones’ “14 on Fire” European summer tour that ran from May 26 to July 2 this year was sponsored by Jeep. Since the Renegade is currently the model Jeep is promoting heavily, it got Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts to sign a car that will be auctioned off through December 23 by Charittybuzz, an organization that raises funds for nonprofits around the globe by auctioning off unique items.
The one-off Renegade was signed in Rome, in front of the Circus Maximus, on June 22, where the Stones played their only gig in Italy and the model was launched for the first time after its Geneva Motor Show debut.
