We have already seen in videos the difference between winter tires and summer tires in the cold season, but what about the difference between budget and premium tires?
Just as budget cars deliver basic performance compared to premium vehicles, budget tires are inferior in terms of performance to premium rubber. But they’re a lot cheaper, so buyers may wonder whether it’s worth paying more money for premium tires.
The following promotional video from Michelin obviously suggests that premium tires are much better than budget tires. Ben Collins, previously known as “The Stig,” drives two identical VW Golfs each shod with different tires and tests braking distance and corner performance, both in wet conditions.
The difference between the Michelin tires and the budget tires is significant. However, Michelin doesn’t mention the name of the budget tire brand. It would have been interesting to find out whether those budget tires were made by Tigar, Kormoran or Riken, which are all brands owned by Michelin.
