Spy photos of the Kia KX3 small SUV in production spec wearing no camouflage have surfaced in China.
Unsurprisingly, the production model stays close to the Kia KX3 Concept unveiled in November at the Guangzhou Auto Show, except some minor changes to the shape of the fog lights and rearranged clusters inside the headlights and taillights.
Built on the same platform as the Hyundai ix25, the Kia KX3 targets younger and more fashionable customers. Both cars have been announced as China-exclusive models.
The KX3 is expected to arrive in Chinese dealerships in March 2015 and will compete with similar models like the Ford EcoSport, Peugeot 2008, and Chevrolet Trax.
Built in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture, the Kia KX3 will be offered with two petrol engines: a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter producing 123hp and 151Nm (111lb-ft) of torque, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter unit with 200hp and 264Nm (195lb-ft) of torque.
The entry-level engine will be offered with a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic, while the turbo unit will be linked to a 7-speed DCT.
The KX3 retains the study’s height of 1,630mm and the 2,590mm wheelbase, but is slightly longer and wider than the concept – 4,270mm (+10mm) and 1,780mm (+15mm), respectively.
